ages 12 and up

We've been previewing Nintendo's newest gaming product. The Nintendo DS is an exciting dual screen, touch screen, and voice recognition portable gaming machine which is totally wireless. Totally next gen. A full review will soon follow on The Review Zone but we wanted to let you know that this is Christmas 2004 when it comes to that handy, dandy Christmas list. This is a hip product--perfect for any 12 year old and teen. Not only does it look like a silver or stainless PDA, it has a built-in stylus and you can actually use this for limited wireless communications called "PictoChat". Fits perfectly in any cargo pockets, this goes to school and back and it's pretty killer. Images are crystal clear and sharp, while the wireless capabilities through local area network and Wi-Fi connections makes this product like no other! Nintendo DS is also backwards compatible--meaning you can play GBA games on this unit. I think that's one of the most awesome features!! Get a new game unit and play your favorite games plus new ones!!

There are a dozen different game titles available at launch and we're rolling up our sleeves to give you the skinny on the best games to play with this system. All are fantastic, so far! Some titles we're working on include Super Mario 64 DS from Nintendo, Sims in the City from EA, Spider-Man 2 from Activision and more! Nintendo is forecasting at least 20 to 25 new games available by the end of the first quarter of 2005. Currently, more than 120 games are in development for Nintendo DS around the world. Games retail from $29.99 each. Here's what our 12-year-old tester for The Review Zone.com, had to say about it so far:

Nintendo DS: A New Generation
By Tim Velgos

The Nintendo DS is the beginning to the Nintendo Dynasty! Uhh, ok I guess that’s exaggerating a bit. I got my hands on a DS, along a couple of games made for the DS platform: Metroid First Hunt, and Mario 64 DS. It was just so astounding, dual screens, a built-in stylus used in touch screens--a gaming experience that is simply fantastic!

Although this isn’t a full review,I can still sum up one more feature that even scared me. The games are smaller. Yea, SMALLER. Just when you think the GBA cartridges are small, the DS ones are half the size. If you have a few games then you might want to consider some sort of container for all these things. Now I missed A LOT of great features, but this is like a sneak peak at the DS almost.
