It doesn't have to be Halloween to play this Game Boy Color adventure! You see, the Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror is based on Fox Interactive's annual The Simpsons Halloween television special. Imagine an interactive version of The Simpsons! It's enough to make you say "Doh"!
Get this: Halloween night and everybody's favorite family, The Simpsons, are telling ghost stories in none-other-than Bart's Treehouse. Problems arise when The Simpsons go to sleep and have an "out of body experience". Now, their spirits have been sucked up into the base of Bart's Treehouse of Horror. Parents, your worst nightmare has been realized. Every day of the entire year is Halloween! So what's a kid (or parent) to do? Trick or treat some more, run to the store for mo' candy, or help save The Simpsons' souls? The choice is obvious. The only way to escape the "twisted dimension" is to play this Game Boy Color game and help Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Homer and Marge escape to the top of the tree before it's too late! Think of The Treehouse of Horror as the main screen. Each time you start a game or enter a new level, you'll check out the Treehouse and note the darkened windows. When you see windows that are lit, you've completed that level. The only way you can save a game (and it's not easy) is by highlighting the garbage can and using a password system. Zany game levels include Bad Dream House, Flying Tonight, Plan 9 From Outer Springfield, Vlad All Over, Nightmare Cafeteria, If I Only Had A Body, and King Homer. Whether you're a 4th grader or a high school junior, you'll love the sarcastic humor and off-beat characters like Principal Skinner, Moe, Krusty the Clown and others. In each of the six levels, players take on the roles of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa or Maggie Simpson as they delve deeper into the creepy Halloween spiritual world which is fantastically animated (like the TV series). You can rescue Santa's Little Helper by finding fuses and bringing them to the basement turning the lights on in Bad Dream House; you can find a few circuit chips and turn on electric generators to help guide Maggie (who's transformed into a Maggie-fly) through the kitchen to help her reunite her with the rest of her body; and you can help Marge from the "brain-sucking, flesh-loving, murderous zombies" as you destroy zombies before they turn Marge and her family into the "walking dead." There's more! If you're a fan of The Simpsons, you'll love this! One activity has Mr. Burns as a vampire and it's up to you to help Homer (Doh!) find the coffin in the basement of Burns' castle before the sun goes down. Otherwise, you know what'll happen to Homer! The activities keep getting better and better as you progress through this innovative game. Nightmare Cafeteria has kids checking out Springfield Elementary. There's something cooking there and it's not good! Principal Skinner is one bad dude. It's up to your kids to help Lisa find the keys to free the school kids from their cages. Otherwise, they could be in big trouble and wind up on the next day's cafeteria's menu! Gross! I told you guys to stay away from cafeteria food! Wanna build a better Homer? If you get to the If I Only Had A Body level, you can help Mr. Burns create the ultimate Homer--the perfect employee "unpaid, tireless, and loyal". You've gotta find five body parts to reconstruct Homer! Just do it! No belching allowed. If you're da bomb and you reach the bonus level, King Homer, who poses as a giant ape, romps through Springfield in search of....true love (you thought I was going to say food or body parts, right?). Nope, he's searching for Marge but to do so, he's gotta destroy everything in his path. You know, buildings, planes, and the army. Without a Hummer to use, it's monkey business! Yet, it's a fine example of another episode of The Simpsons. Designed to make you laugh and laugh and laugh. Viewers of The Simpsons have a leg's up on this one! Worth every penny! |
