If you're looking for a mission-based action game for your GameBoy Color, LEGO Alpha Team may be just the thing. Kids can apply logical thinking skills and put their experienced GameBoy skills to the ultimate test as they play this colorful and zany mission.

Although not as gripping as a James Bond adventure, kids ages 8 and up will have fun navigating through multi-level obstacle courses and challenges. Loaded with gizmos, gadgets and secret agents, LEGO Alpha Team is certainly challenging.

Kids help the ALpha Team by helping rescue members of the team. You see, the Evil Ogel has captured five of the six members and to free them, kids must invade Evil Ogel's compound. Look out for booby traps, skeletal zombies and totally techie security devices that are sure to throw a wrench into your rescue mission.

Kids collect 36 types of gadgets throughout four different environments (compounds) and use them to open security doors and disable security barriers. There are between 10 and 20 missions in each compound which maximizes game-play!

Although the graphics (accelerated real-time 3D with camera artificial intelligence) seemed dark on my GameBoy Color, kids have little problems carrying their gadgets throughout the game and putting their own gaming skills to use. Kids learn that they can fix problems with their tools (gadgets) and frankly, this is a good life-learning skill! Audio is top-notch, with an original soundtrack and outstanding sound effects.

Kids help defeat Evil Ogel by learning how to connect electrical cords, belts and ropes; constructing original LDGO devices in the correct sequence; and navigating through maze-like environments to rescue captured team members.

In LEGO Alpha Team, unexpected twists are par for the course! Kids will also enjoy stopping mean old Ogel and his plans to conquer the world with an army of Zombies. Yeah, it's good versus evil and it works.

LEGO Alpha Team is a good value for your GameBoy buck. Containing more than 40 puzzles and three play modes, it scores high on replayability and fun.
