| If you've watched Trading Spaces at all, you can't help but wonder about the wacky
host of the show, Paige Davis. Her enthusiasm and hyperactivity is contagious! This book
is a real page-turner (pardon the pun, Paige!). Catching a glimpse at what goes on behind
the scenes of Trading Spaces through the eyes of a game-show host makes for some light
reading. Trading Spaces, is, after all, a big game show. There are winners...and sometimes losers. There are designers people love, and egotistical designers people have nightmares about (and for good reasons!). You can't seem but to love Paige, despite her "get tough" host attitude of watching the clock and watching those $1,000 budgets. It's all in fun! Most of the show's participants seem to have fun (or it looks that way through the magic of television). The "reveals", to me, are most interesting. I always wonder how honest some people are being when they say they "love it". If you've ever taken on a home-improvement project, you'll agree that a lot more work goes into the projects than they let you on to believe on TV! Of course, there's a lot of partying that goes on after the show! Champagne, anyone? Written in diary form (covering the 2002-2003 taping sessions) with cute fonts and color photos blended throughout the book, this is an interesting read for anyone looking for some behind-the-scenes scoop on the host of this popular TLC series. The enthusiasm Paige shows on camera is truly off-camera as well, as evidenced by her journal entries. It's nice to know that Paige really loves playing host, and talk about those airline miles! Wow! She's a veteran at travelling all over the country, and enjoys the theater and dance, as well as playing referee between two sets of neighbors, two diva designers, and a carpenter! It's a job that most people would envy and Paige pulls it off so nicely! She's probably as nice a person off-screen as she is on-screen, and that says something! Her writing is interesting, and the craziness is evident! I've watched more than my share of Trading Spaces shows and Paige Davis is a riot to watch, along with the crazy designers and even crazier homeowners! Like a breathe of fresh air....she's on location and dressed appropriately! Two paintbrushes and a roller to Paige Davis for this chatty book. |
