How To Do Homework Without Throwing Up |

Trevor Romain makes kids laugh about serious things, like doing homework! How To Do Homework Without Throwing Up is a witty book about doing just that--making homework a little easier on the stomach! Is homework a daily battle for your elementary-school child? This is the book to put a new spin on homework. Mr. Romain can "talk" to kids like no other author. His book acknowledges that "homework is not horrible (well, not that horrible)" and that there are ways to deal with homework. Most importantly, he reminds kids that they are not alone in sharing these feelings! Trevor Romain recently was a guest speaker at Cheyenne Traditional School in Scottsdale, AZ. The kids literally ran to the school library after his speech and requested to borrow books by this author. In fact, any book written by Mr. Romain was checked out within 30 minutes of the speech. Now, that's motivational! Although some parents and teachers aren't as enthusiastic about these books as others, I heartily recommend this book to all parents and teachers. Have you noticed the huge load of homework students are dealing with these days? My third-grader misses a day of school and has 10 pages of homework (and class work) to catch up on. What's up with that? Positive reinforcement is crucial to kids and this book dishes it out---children realize that they're not the only ones in the universe who may dislike (or even hate) homework. Hilarious cartoons (also drawn by Mr. Romain) and the use of friendly fonts through the book make this book fun to read for kids, parents and teachers. At less than $9, it's a steal! After all, as the author reminds us, you can't escape from homework. "It will follow you wherever you go. Even to the North Pole. Get to your homework before it gets to you." Amen! Oh, and forget the dog line--kids will learn that dogs will throw up if they try to eat ANY homework (especially if it's a science project). This is a must-have book on any family book shelf. Two-thumb's up to Trevor Romain for telling it like it is--and then some! |
