| Before you begin reading this book with your 5 through 8 year old child, be sure to go
to the store and buy a package of Hershey's Kisses for props! Props like chocolate kisses
make yummy rewards, as moms, dads, kids, and teachers know! This book is wonderfully illustrated with vivid colors which makes the giant Hershey's Kisses look very realistic! I dare you to read this book without getting a craving for chocolate! Besides the cute illustrations, this book does a good job presenting subtraction basics. Kids can choose to count the candy in the book, count their fingers, and even count their toes backwards! You'll even find a basic subtraction table starting with 0-0=0 and winding down with 18-9=9 in the middle of the book. If your young one isn't quite ready for subtraction, this book can be used for counting. For instance, count the clowns in the book! You'll be surprised how many clowns you'll find! (Note: some young kids are afraid of clowns while others love clowns). However, counting the Hershey's Kisses is the best counting exercise of all. Your kids will be rolling on the floor giggling when they're through counting all 32 pages of Hershey's Kisses! It's too bad this book doesn't come with chocolate. There's no way around it!! The Hershey's Kisses Subtraction Book may be a gigantic walking ad for its product but it's also a clever way to teach kids basic subtraction (and counting) skills. Two Hershey's kisses and a glass of milk for all! |
