This guide for kids ages 9-13 is really no sweat at all. For parents, that is! This is a "must read" for tweens and if you have one at home, grab a copy of this book and slip it under his or her door. Or, maybe put it in an inconspicuous place and just let your tween find it! Or, if you're having a heart-to-heart, a nice gift for your child that says you care!

What I like about this book, other than it being an informative and easy read for most kids, is the stuff it addresses. Important stuff every kid should know, including your kid. Most kids and their parents like the style of this book--it's chatty and light-hearted, yet informative. It covers serious puberty questions without embarrassment. In fact, it's very conversational and could be the starting point for many questions. Or, it just may provide an important answer to a question your child wasn't ready to ask you.

By reading this book, your tween will learn that's it's okay to have a bad hair day, all about his/her face (including acne), mouth, hands, body odor, "those parts below", and even their feet! A head to toe puberty guide, if you will.

Author Marguerite Crump, who teaches health and PE classes in Missouri, puts her double master's degrees in Journalism and Physical Education to a wonderful use! Marguerite, we love your book! You've done good!

The book has a terrific lay-out. Whether you choose to read the book in its entirety or skim important sections, I encourage you, as a parent or teacher, to read this book first before giving it to your tween. I must say it does a pretty good job answering some hairy (pardon the pun) questions in a very tactful way.

As Ms. Crump mentioned, "It's a book on how to take the 'P.U.' out of puberty." Although it's hard for kids to deal with body changes and puberty, reading this book gives kids a good understanding of basic health issues that are sometimes hard to talk about (to anyone, including 'rents).

Whether you're a school nurse, a health educator, a school or public librarian, or a concerned parent, you'll agree with me that this book is a valuable resource for understanding our 9 to 13 year-olds. Just be sure to share this book with your kids because they have more questions than we do! Of course, they'll never admit it.

The body truly is an amazing machine. Thanks for helping our kids take good care of their bodies! Ms. Crump (and yes, that really is her name), you've made our parental job just a little easier.

And if you're a tween and you want to read this book, please print out this review and give it to your parents. It will be the best $13.95 they've ever spent on you. Be sure to read the fun-filled facts and myths in this book. Some of them WILL surprise you!

I'd like to see this book in each and every library, especially in school libraries. Two thumb's up for creating a "friendly advice" book for girls AND boys!
