| Who says "chick lit"
is dead? British best-selling author Jane Green proves
beyond a reasonable doubt that it's alive and kicking!
Pass the diapers and be sure to spend some ME time on
this book! Babyville dishes up a sassy spin at motherhood
which every woman should read! If you can't stand the hormones, stay out the kitchen! Readers soon read about about three thirtysomething women--each fighting to find their own self! Each has her own problems, as we all do! A great story plot unrolls as you dig deeper into this book! This book could easily be turned into a television sitcom! All three women are different, yet struggling. Who's life will have the happy ending? Characters have their own alternating chapters in this book and it's a good thing they do, because whoever said having a baby (or not having one) was easy? Meet Julia, Maeve, and Samantha. Three successful women whose hormones turn them upside down...literally. One of them is desperate to conceive a child but seems to be unable to deliver (and blames it on the guy!), the other is a television career woman who avoids baby strollers at all costs, and there's happily married Samantha, who despite having the perfect baby and husband has wandering eyes for her friend's sexy husband. Made for TV, wouldn't you say? Guess who winds up conceiving first? Or second? You'll have to read the book to find out! Tick-tock goes the biological clocks of these women--these clocks chime on the hour, every hour. You can almost hear the ticking as you read through this book. Don't get too close to this book or it may be contagious (is it in the water?) as you read along and identify with one or more of the characters and gasp at loveless relationships, quickies, and June-Cleaver mothers gone bad! Hey, let's put romance back into baby-making, but not with these three!:-) Thirty-somethings (and forty-somethings, and twenty-somethings, too!) do eventually grapple with hormonally charged issues surrounding motherhood. Author Jane Green shows she has experienced both worlds as she puts pen to paper and helps create dreams, shatter careers, and have her characters fight with choices. Definitely, the 3Ms are anything but simple! Marriage, Maternity, and Motherhood---not necessarily in that order! Two thumb's up from The Review Zone.com to Jane Green for providing a hilarious romp on the hormonal nightmare which women experience through the melodic chimes of their powerful biological clocks! |
